We are looking for a Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join a team supporting a diverse client portfolio in Hammond, Indiana. This Contract to Permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who enjoys balancing day-to-day ledger work with tax preparation, reconciliations, and client interaction. The role combines financial reporting, compliance support, and hands-on account analysis in a fast-paced environment serving multiple businesses and individuals.

Responsibilities:
• Manage accounting records for a range of clients, ensuring general ledger activity is recorded accurately and consistently.
• Create and enter journal entries, review account activity, and research variances to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support year-end close processes by organizing documentation and preparing detailed schedules that back financial results.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts to maintain clean and reliable financial data.
• Assist with corporate and individual tax work by collecting required information and assembling schedules for return preparation.
• Track fixed assets, maintain depreciation and accrual records, and update supporting schedules as needed.
• Produce financial statements, internal reports, and related documentation for management review and client use.
• Communicate with clients in both English and Spanish to request records, explain accounting questions, and provide status updates.
• Prepare recurring tax filings, including quarterly returns and monthly sales tax submissions, while also supporting payroll processing for multiple clients.• At least 3 years of accounting experience with exposure to corporate tax responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support.
• Experience preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate general ledger records.
• Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify, investigate, and correct account discrepancies.
• Background supporting financial statement preparation and year-end close activities.
• Ability to manage multiple client accounts and prioritize deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication skills in English; Spanish language ability is highly valued for client interaction.
